Limitation of Liability for Free Service

QRoll is provided free of charge, on a limited-access basis, and at the sole discretion of its operator. To the fullest extent permitted by law, QRoll is provided 'as is' and 'as available,' without warranties of any kind. QRoll and its operator shall have no liability whatsoever for any error, outage, inaccuracy, attendance dispute, missed check-in, data loss, flagging error, location inaccuracy, academic consequence, disciplinary action, or other damage arising from or related to use of the platform. Users assume all risk associated with use of QRoll. If liability is nevertheless imposed, the maximum aggregate liability shall not exceed USD $10 or the amount paid for the service in the prior twelve months, whichever is greater.

1. Eligibility and Access

QRoll is a limited-access platform made available at no monetary charge to approved users only. Access to the platform is not open to the general public and is granted solely at the discretion of QRoll and its operator.

Access may be requested by professors, instructors, or other academic personnel authorized to manage attendance for a class or academic session. Submission of a request does not guarantee acceptance. QRoll reserves the absolute right to approve, deny, suspend, revoke, or limit access to any individual, institution, class, or user account at any time, with or without notice, and for any or no reason.

Because QRoll is offered free of charge and with limited operational capacity, QRoll may restrict the total number of professors, institutions, classes, users, sessions, or attendance records supported on the platform at any time. QRoll is under no obligation to expand access, maintain a waitlist, preserve user eligibility, or continue offering the service to any particular user or institution.

2. Nature of the Service

QRoll is a tool intended to assist with attendance tracking through features that may include QR-based check-in, roster upload, live dashboard viewing, location-based verification, reporting, and data export. QRoll is provided for administrative convenience only. The platform is not guaranteed to be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, accurate, tamper-proof, or suitable for any specific institutional, disciplinary, grading, employment, compliance, or legal purpose.

Any attendance output, report, flag, alert, location-based indicator, or dashboard result generated by QRoll is informational only and should be independently reviewed by the professor or institution before being used for grading, disciplinary action, reporting, compliance, or any other consequential decision.

3. No Guarantee of Availability or Continuity

QRoll is provided on a voluntary, free-access basis. QRoll does not guarantee that the platform will remain available at any particular time or for any particular duration. Access to the service may be interrupted, suspended, modified, degraded, or permanently discontinued at any time, without notice.

QRoll makes no promise regarding uptime, response time, storage continuity, feature availability, compatibility with any device, browser, campus network, operating system, or institutional system. Features may be added, changed, limited, or removed at any time in QRoll's sole discretion.

Users acknowledge and agree that, because the platform is offered free of charge and with finite capacity, outages, delays, feature restrictions, service caps, data limitations, and access controls may occur.

4. User Responsibility

Professors and other authorized users are solely responsible for:

  • Verifying the accuracy of rosters, session settings, and attendance records
  • Reviewing any flags, location anomalies, or system-generated attendance results before relying on them
  • Determining whether and how QRoll may be used under their institution's rules, policies, and procedures
  • Obtaining any approvals, notices, or permissions required by their institution or applicable law
  • Maintaining backup attendance procedures when needed
  • Ensuring that any action taken on the basis of attendance data is fair, lawful, and independently justified

QRoll does not assume responsibility for mistaken check-ins, failed scans, inaccurate location readings, connectivity failures, browser issues, device malfunctions, user error, mistaken roster uploads, incorrect session configuration, misuse by students, misuse by faculty, or institutional reliance on incomplete or inaccurate data.

5. Location and Verification Limitations

Certain QRoll features may rely on device location, browser permissions, QR display timing, internet connectivity, device settings, and third-party services. These inputs may be affected by inaccurate GPS readings, disabled permissions, VPNs, network instability, building conditions, device limitations, spoofing attempts, or other technical factors beyond QRoll's control.

Accordingly, QRoll does not warrant that any location-based attendance verification, radius-based flag, proximity indicator, dynamic QR feature, or anti-sharing mechanism will always function correctly or fully prevent misuse, fraud, proxy attendance, or error. Any such feature is provided as a best-effort aid only and not as a definitive proof of physical presence or absence.

6. Institutional and Academic Decision-Making

QRoll is not responsible for any academic, disciplinary, administrative, employment, immigration, compliance, disability-related, or financial decision made by a professor, institution, or third party based on information generated by the platform.

All decisions concerning attendance credit, participation, grading, warnings, interventions, sanctions, accommodations, appeals, or disciplinary proceedings remain solely with the relevant professor or institution. QRoll does not endorse, validate, or assume responsibility for any such decisions.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, QRoll is provided on an "as is," "as available," and "with all faults" basis. QRoll and its operator disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, reliability, availability, performance, data integrity, and quiet enjoyment.

Without limiting the foregoing, QRoll does not warrant that:

  • The service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
  • Attendance records will always be accurate or complete
  • Location or radius checks will correctly identify student presence or absence
  • The QR code system will prevent all sharing, misuse, or fraudulent attendance
  • Exported reports will be complete, compatible, or preserved
  • Defects will be corrected
  • The platform will meet the needs of any particular user or institution
